Machines Works Ltd

The history of Du-For Scaffodling inc. goes up at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1919, Joseph-Albert Duplessis, grandfather of Claude, founded the provincial charted company Machine Works Ltd. His background as machinist pushed him to open a workshop at 1010, St-Alexandre street in Montreal.

On November 27, 1928, Machine Works Ltd becames a federal charted company which, with the years, modify the nature of its activities. Thus, from 1928 to 1932, the company manufactures tools for stamps obliteration. During the Second World War, Machine Works Ltd. is devoted to the manufacture of tools of high precision and landing gears for the Norseman aircrafts.

In 1949, Joseph-Albert Duplessis and Gerard, his son, buys a ground located on St-Laurent boulevard, in the north area of the city of Montreal. The original building is erected in 1954 and the company moved in these new installations.

Into Inc.

In 1955, Gerard Duplessis, father of Claude, created the company INTO Inc. (the abbreviation of Industrial Tools). This new company is a manufacturer agent of replacement parts for heavy machinery dedicated to construction jobsites and mines market.

Machines Works Ltd, Into Inc. and Du-For Scaffolding Inc.

In 1972, Claude Duplessis succeed to his father Gerard father as owner of the companies Machine Works (1972) Ltd and Into (1972) Inc. In parallel, Du-For Scaffolding company is created. This name gathers the name of associates, that is to say Duplessis and Fortin.

During the Seventies, considering the need for rationnalization its operations, Machine Works (1972) Ltd is liquidated and dissolved. INTO (1972) Inc. and Du-For Scaffolding Inc. took over Machine Works (1972) Ltd activities. The owners decided to converge towards a common goal : scaffolding. At that point, Into (1972) Inc. starts to manufacture and sell permanent platforms for buildings, while Du-For Scaffolding Inc. assumes their sale and rental.

For over 30 years, the mission of Du-For Scaffolding Inc. and INTO (1972) Inc. remains the same. The new generation is interested to maintain the tradition.
